It is with great pride that I am able to present this revised edition of The Nutrition Digest of Essential Nutrients . I hope that this book will become widely used as a handy reference source by both health professionals and the general public.
Overview
The science of nutrition is expanding rapidly and this edition represents much of what we now know. Many new and exciting discoveries are yet to be made and these new discoveries will further substantiate our fundamental belief that we are what we ingest, or rather what we absorb. Good health is no accident, nor is poor health. Both are the result of our lifestyles. Good health must be earned: it is the result of our knowledge and our application of that knowledge. Good nutrition is a necessary requirement, along with adequate exercise, rest and mental balance to achieve optimum health throughout one’s lifetime.
As the title suggests, this work is devoted largely to those nutrients which are considered essential or semi-essential. It is recognized that there are hundreds, maybe even thousands of nutritional factors in nature, while not essential to life, can be helpful in maintaining good health or treating disease conditions, but that is the subject of perhaps a future work.

Enerex products are housed in recyclable BPA-free PETE plastic containers to provide the best protection against oxidation, moisture, sunlight, and chemical migration from container to product. In all of these areas, PETE is virtually equal to that of glass but without the larger environmental footprint left by glass packaging. PETE plastic is far superior to that of HDPE plastic in all regards; HDPE plastic is used for the majority of products on the market. Unlike more costly PETE bottles, HDPE plastic facilitates the immediate degradation of the product inside as it is not a barrier to oxygen or moisture; studies also show high concentrations of chemical migration from HDPE bottles to product relative to that of PETE and glass bottles.
